If you work in an office then you might wear a suit and tie, and if you work in a shop then you might wear a uniform supplied by your employer. But what about if you need to wear something specific, or look smart but a tie or dress is inappropriate or perhaps even dangerous?
Here’s what you can wear instead.
1. Polo shirts are ideal to replace a shirt and tie, and can be smart, and branded with your logo or contact details so that you can benefit from the additional visibility and advertising provided by corporate workwear. If you work as a plumber, or electrician, or factory worker, then wearing a polo shirt rather than a shirt and tie is much less dangerous.
2. Sweatshirts can be worn when it gets cold, perhaps in a factory, warehouse or food processing environment, and again can have your company name or logo on it, so it will be seen many times a day.
3. Fleeces are ideal for cold days, and whether you work outside a lot or not, you can benefit from looking smart and professional when you turn up to do a job. How impressed will your customers be when you turn up wearing a smart yet suitable outfit? What impression will this give compared to if you just turn up in jeans and a T shirt?
4. Trousers with knee pads might be useful in your line of work if you fit carpets, or are involved in construction. Perhaps you spend a lot of time on your hands and knees installing cables, or fixing cars, or balancing precariously painting.
5. You might need an immersion suit for your job. Perhaps you’ll be working onboard a boat or ship, or on a helicopter or plane and want to remain safe in case the very worst happens. Would you benefit from an immersion suit, or better life jackets when you’re at work?
6. A survival suit really could save your life, and whether you’re working on an oil rig, or part of a rescue team, you’ll want to know that you have the best chance of staying alive if things go wrong.
7. Base layers are designed to help keep you warm by removing moisture away from the skin as you sweat. If you’re working in a physical job in the cold, then you’ll want to make sure that you have the appropriate base layers on so that you can stay warm and comfortable.
8. Cold weather workwear will differ from person to person, and company to company. For you, it might include warm winter coats, hats, gloves and better thicker socks. You’ll definitely want to make sure that you can still move your arms, and do your job whilst staying warm.
9. Waterproof workwear will be vital if you work outside a lot and can’t stop working when it rains. You’ll want to make sure that you have a waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers so that you can stay warm and dry even in the wettest weather. Why not get quick drying socks too, so that your feet don’t get cold when it rains?
10. High visibility workwear might be a legal requirement in your line of work. You might need to be seen at all times whilst you repair a motorway, or work on a construction site. Do you wear a vest, or would you be better off with a high visibility jacket and high vis trousers? What about when it’s raining, can you still be seen.. customized socks with logo
